The story of famous Mai Tai cocktail

Mai Tai is a cocktail originating from French Polynesia, created in the 1940s by Victor J. Bergeron, better known as Trader Vic.

The story goes that Victor J. Bergeron created the cocktail for his friends, who were rum lovers, but didn't like the taste of raw rum. He therefore mixed white rum, amber rum, Cointreau, orgeat syrup and lime juice to create a sweet and fruity cocktail, which quickly became a great success.

The name "Mai Tai" means "the best" in Tahitian,

The cocktail was quickly considered one of the best cocktails in the world. It was popularized in the 1950s and 1960s, thanks to the boom in tourism in French Polynesia and the spread of tiki culture.

Today, the Mai Tai is an emblematic cocktail of Polynesian culture and is served in many bars around the world. There are many variations of the original recipe, but the Mai Tai remains a popular cocktail for its sweet and fruity taste, as well as its fascinating history.

At bar LE COOK’S, you will have the choice between its original version and the modified one called Island Mai Tai made with white rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice and grenadine.
