Our History
Closed and unexploited for more than two decades, the Cook's Bay is a place steeped in history, evoking many good memories to the locals.
The property was originally built in 1985 under the French brand Ibis (Accor). With a beautiful Colonial-style, it had 78 rooms, all facing the sea.
With the growing influx of tourists, the smallness of the rooms provided at the time couldn’t face the competition anymore, which plunged the hotel into bankruptcy. Several owners then succeeded each other until the total closure of the complex in 1998.
In 2023, the property comes back to life!
Between past and present...
For the renovation of this emblematic hotel, the focus was made on the history of the property mixed with the modernity of the present time.
Work began in March 2021 to the delight of the island’s locals.
The goal was to bring heritage back to life and revitalize the area.
Only the concrete structures and the pool have been preserved.
The restaurant which had disappeared from the motu, has now reappeared and is accessible by a wooden walkway.
An aesthetic research offering a new breath to Cook’s Bay hotel complex.

Our Concept and Universe
The natural green, the gold and the timber are in the spotlight.
The green color has soothing virtues and offers a decor filled with softness. The design of the hotel and restaurant plays on this same shade where you can find whimsical greens, while others are more classic. The brushed gold finish refines the entire décor and gives the hotel a chic and modern look.
The golden color also symbolizes the sun, a natural element in harmony with the shades of green. Used sparingly in the hotel and restaurant, brushed gold will be elegant without being outrageous.
Timber, a lively and irregular texture, is used to accentuate the return to nature. This material, both noble and warm, connotes Polynesian traditions. It brings an inviting aspect to the place, where everybody will feel good and welcomed.
The chosen design establishes a climate of serenity and elegance that calls for escape.
Graphic design and visual identity
The hotel's visual identity is based on the shape of the nostrils of the tiki, God at the origin of man.
The logotype refers to this shape to evoke the first Polynesian people and their original world : an earthly paradise.
This representation makes the parallel with the renovation of the hotel which uses the original foundations of the buildings, to give a second life to an abandoned place.
The symbolism of the nostrils of the tiki is the second wind, the rebirth of a place, of a history.
The combination illustrates the island of Moorea, its vegetation and the sun who shines even on rainy days.
